Art Basel Miami Beach is more than the brilliant art and world-famous galleries showcased each year. It’s about congregating the biggest names of the business, art, media, fashion, and cultural industries. Over 75,000 people flew in this year for the week long extravaganza.
Basel is my favorite time of year by far here in Miami. Being a part-time local here (in Brickell) has allowed me to help our crew plan our itinerary to see and experience all the best of MIA. So here is a list of ways on how you can properly basel during Art Basel.

Dress classy yet steezy.
You're going to need lightweight fabrics, bright colors, comfortable shoes, big sunnies, and dresses or rompers that are easy to pack and wear... A.M. Club silk scarves are the best for Miami weather because you can wear them as a top or to tie up your hair. ;)

Plan out your itinerary beforehand.
I made our groups itinerary on a flight and handled RSVP's - honestly last minute is kind of the best way when it comes to Art Basel. You won't end up going to most of the events or galleries - but you can collectively decide which ones you want to experience most as a group and at least have a sense of what's going on.

Plan out which restaurants you want to check out.
As a hostess - I wanted to show my friends all my favorite spots so we went to Komodo, theThe Villa, Casa Casuarina (former Versace Mansion) and Wynwood Kitchen. Honestly you don't really eat that much during Basel because the humidity, duh, but still gotta show everyone the best spots.

4. Go to the art shows.
Don't be one of those people who only parties during Art Basel (ugh, guilty last year). I went to 5 different exhibits this year and absolutely LOVED them and was definitely inspired in many ways. Here is a list of shows you should check out.

5. Shop.
You have to check out the best stores in Miami at least for the experience. My favorites are Brothers & Brawlers in Wynwood (A.M. Club is now available here!), The Webster, The Alchemist and the new Brickell City Center.

6. Enjoy the cocktails, clubs and lounges.
Miami has one of the most vibrant night scenes so make sure to check out The Living Room at Faena, Basement at the Edition, The One Hotel and The W Hotel.

7. Explore Wynwood.
So. Much. Art. I love the Wynwood Walls and galleries sprinkled throughout on 2nd Ave.
8. Beach it.
9. Go check out a few panels.
