            Summer is the perfect time to explore your city and all of it's hidden gems, which is why we put together this curated list of our favorite museums and gardens in Los Angeles, California.

Museums:

The Broad

            Located in the heart of Downtown LA, The Broad is a contemporary art lover’s dream. The Broad is known for iconic installations such as the Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Mirrored Room and Robert Therrien’s Under The Table. This indoor museum is perfect for those hot days where you want to avoid the heat and get lost in the art.

 

Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA)

            LACMA is the largest art museum on the west coast and we can see why! Home of both contemporary and historical art, LACMA has it all. In addition, LACMA holds some of the most diverse art -- ranging from Asian, Latin American, and Islamic art. LA County residents get free general admission after 3pm on weekdays! So what are you waiting for??

 

The Getty Center

            Simple, sleek, and breathtaking: The Getty Center is a wonderful location to enjoy a sunny day. From art exhibits flourishing with European art to a botanical garden to a large lawn perfect for a picnic, The Getty Center has it all. Did we also mention the tram ride that overlooks Los Angeles?!

 

Getty Villa

            Not to be confused with the Getty Center, the stunning Getty Villa located in Malibu will take your breath away. This museum overlooks the gorgeous beaches of Southern California. The Getty Villa has both modern and ancient Rome architecture, which makes for the perfect background for that summer OOTD picture.

The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens

            As the name states, The Huntington Library has the best of both worlds: an extensive art collection and a cluster of themed botanical gardens. The Huntington Library boasts gardens of all kind -- the Rose Garden, Children’s Garden, Chinese Garden, and the list goes on! Whether you are looking for a relaxed day of exhibit-hopping or adventures through the different gardens, the Huntington Library is a must-see!

 

Los Angeles County Arboretum

            The Los Angeles County Arboretum is a beautiful 127-acre botanical garden. In addition to holding plants native to California, this spot is also a historical site. The highlight of the Arboretum is its peacocks! These glamorous birds can be spotted casually roaming around the Arboretum. The Arboretum holds flora and fauna of all kinds and is ideal for those seeking to escape city life. Visit the Arboretum for a day to sit down and smell the roses!

  

Descanso Gardens

            Descanso Gardens is the perfect get-away from the hustle and bustle of work and life. Located only 20 minutes away from Downtown LA, this garden has an array of plants such as roses, poppies, lilacs, and maple trees.
